Almost 5K families affected by ‘Basyang’

MANILA -- The number of families affected by Tropical Storm "Basyang" has now climbed to 4,895 families or 21,155 persons.

This was disclosed by National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (NDRRMC) executive director Ricardo Jalad in the agency's Wednesday update.

He added that the affected families are from 94 barangays in Region 7 and Caraga.

Of the above-mentioned figure, 4,866 families or 21,049 persons are being aided in 102 evacuation centers.

While 23 families or 84 persons are being helped outside.

As this develops, Jalad said the Department of Social Welfare and Development (central and field offices) and National Resource Operations Center have stockpiles and stand-by funds amounting PHP1,136,022,392.60. (PNA)
