MANILA -- Marinerong Pilipino secured a seat in the PBA D-League Aspirants Cup quarterfinals with a 99-83 romp of Gamboa-St. Clare at the JCSGO Gym in Quezon City on Tuesday.

It was a wire-to-wire victory for the Skippers as they quickly opened a 15-point lead at the get-go and extending it to as high as 30 in the third quarter. They have now won their last six games.

"We're on a roll and we want to keep on rolling going to the playoffs. Hopefully, we can bring this winning attitude going to our next games," said coach Koy Banal.

Billy Robles sizzled for 13 points in the first half before finishing with 19, even as Alvin Pasaol tallied 12 markers for Marinero, which still has a chance of making the semifinals outright should the team win its remaining two games in the elimination round.

CEU placed one foot in one of the two outright semis spots at stake in the other game by subduing Wang's-Letran, 79-75.

The Scorpions can formally secure a direct entry to the Final Four round with one more win or at least one loss from the Skippers and the Akari-Adamson Soaring Falcons from their remaining two games. (PNA)
