GOYANG -- DPRK leader Kim Jong-un and South Korean President Moon Jae-in planted a pine tree on the demarcation line in the demilitarized zone as a symbol of peace and prosperity on the sidelines of their historic meeting on Friday.

The two countries’ leaders also took a brief stroll, during which they were able to talk tete-a-tete without the presence of any delegation members.

On Friday, the border village of Panmunjom is hosting an inter-Korean summit, the first in more than 10 years.

South Korean President Moon Jae-in and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un spent an hour and a half at the negotiating table before taking a break.
