CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga -- The conduct of the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections on Monday was generally peaceful with no reports of untoward incidents.

This was disclosed by Chief Supt. Amador Corpus, Police Regional Office-3 (PRO3) director, during a press conference held here on Tuesday.

“The intensified police and military presence as well as the Comelec and other partner agencies, information dissemination, and the various activities that our commanders on the ground did for community engagements greatly helped us steer a generally peaceful and orderly conduct of the 2018 barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections in Central Luzon,” Corpus said.

He noted that even in Nueva Ecija which has the most number of election hotspots, there was no single election-related incident reported.

“I can say that this is the best example that indeed, we provided the best security coverage for this electoral process,” he said.

Corpus added from the start of Comelec gun ban last April 14, the PRO-3 has confiscated 87 assorted firearms, 534 bullets, 40 bladed weapons, 16 hand grenades, and two firearms replica.

He said 137 persons were arrested in violation of gun ban while 53 others were apprehended for liquor ban. (PNA)
