MANILA -- The Philippine Air Force (PAF) has allocated PHP6.1 million for the acquisition of four sets of cartridge actuated device (CAD) needed for the maintenance of one of its SIAI-Marchetti S-211 jet trainers.

Bid opening is slated to be held at the PAF Procurement Center Conference Room, Villamor Air Base, Pasay City at 9:15 a.m. on Wednesday, a bid bulletin posted at the Philippine Government Electronic Procurement System stated.

"The Philippine Air Force reserves the right to reject any and all bids, declare a failure of bidding, or not award the contract at any time prior to contract award in accordance with Section 41 of RA 9184 and its IRR, without thereby incurring any liability to the affected bidder or bidders," PAF Bids and Awards Committee chair Brig. Gen. Ferynl Buca said in the bid bulletin.

The CAD is generally used to initiate the ejection sequence of any aircrew escape system.

The S-211, one of the PAF's jet-powered aircraft, is primarily used for air-to-ground and surveillance missions, with the PAF known to be operating three to five units. (PNA)
