3 killed, 25 injured as explosion hits restaurant in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD -- At least three people were killed and 25 others were injured when a blast hit a restaurant in Pakistan's central Multan district on Monday, local media reported.

Confirming the death toll, City Police Officer Muneer Masood said that the nature of the blast is not known yet and a bomb disposal unit and other teams have been called in at the site.

Earlier, some local media reports said the blast happened due to a gas cylinder that exploded at the restaurant.

The blast razed the restaurants' roof to ground, trapping many people including women and kids inside.

The injured people were rushed to a nearby hospital, where at least five of them are said to be in critical condition. (Xinhuanet)
