SAN JOSE DE BUENAVISTA, Antique – The province of Antique is preparing to host the Boy and Girl Scout Regional Jamboree in February next year.

Antique Governor Rhodora Cadiao said they are making early preparations for the jamboree to ensure its success.

“We are expecting around 15,000 to 20,000 scouters from around Western Visayas to come to Antique for the jamboree,” she said in an interview Monday.

She added that hosting the regional jamboree is being required for a local government unit (LGU) before it could host the national scouting event.

“I heard Davao will host the national jamboree next year and after that hopefully in Antique,” Cadiao said.

She said the regional jamboree this February will be held at Camp General Leandro L. Fullon in San Fernando, San Jose de Buenavista where there is a military base and a wide area for camping.

“As part of our preparations, we are going to install water pipelines and electrical posts,” Cadiao said.

She said a small building will also be put up as headquarter of scouting officials.

Antique is vying to host national events, like the successful Palarong Pambansa 2017, to promote the province. (PNA)
