CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga — The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) regional office here reshuffled some of the provincial and community environment and natural resources officers in Central Luzon.

DENR Secretary Roy Cimatu issued the directive for the revamp to further strengthen the enforcement of environmental laws and implementation of priority programs in the region.

Paquito Moreno, Jr., executive director of DENR in Central Luzon, said in an interview on Monday that Cimatu also ordered the revamp after noticing that some field officials were already overstaying in their area of assignment.

“Secretary Cimatu noticed that some have been in their post for seven and others, for already 10 years. He wanted DENR officials to have tour-of-duty of only three years in each post,” he said.

Among those reassigned was Capas, Tarlac Community Environment and Natural Resources Officer (CENRO) Alfredo Collado as Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Officer (PENRO) of Aurora. He replaced lawyer Ricardo Lazaro, who retired from the government service last September 23.

Tarlac PENRO Emelita Lingat was reassigned to Bulacan while Bulacan PENRO Celia Esteban was transferred to Tarlac.

Meanwhile, Merliza Torre was assigned as OIC-CENRO of Casiguran in Aurora while Rolly Mulato became OIC-CENRO of Guiguinto, Bulacan.

On the other hand, Roger Encarnacion is now the CENRO of Olongapo City while Marife Castillo is the new CENRO of Dinalupihan, Bataan.

Gerundio Fernandez was named CENRO of Capas in Tarlac and Mariano Lagartera was assigned as OIC-CENRO of Camiling.

Moreno, together with DENR Deputy Director for Management Services, Tirso Parian, Jr., and DENR Deputy Director for Technical Services, Arthur Salazar, installed and turned over the different field officials to their new assignment. (PNA)
