LEGAZPI CITY -- At least three members of a family had died when a landslide hit their house in Barangay San Francisco, an upland village in this city, on Saturday morning, City Mayor Noel Rosal said.

Killed were Mauro Alegre, 26; Mia Loreto, 20; and Marco Alegre, 3, all residents of San Francisco village.

Rosal, in a phone interview, said the incident occurred at about 12 midnight Saturday when a small portion of a mountain slope eroded due to the continuous downpour brought about by Tropical Depression Usman.

He said a 10-foot landslide struck the house, where 13 members of the family were asleep at the time.

Rosal noted that “the area where the house was situated was not prone to landslide." (PNA)
