Go reiterates vow to ‘serve Duterte ’til end’

December 30, 2018, 10:56 am

DAVAO CITY – Former Special Assistant to the President (SAP) Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go on Saturday reiterated his continued support for President Rodrigo Duterte, his programs, and his fellow Duterte supporters.

“Paglilingkuran ko si Pangulong Duterte hanggang dulo, may posisyon man ako o wala,” he said.

Go, who is gunning for a Senate seat, made this remark during the year-end gathering of presidential supporters and appointees held at the Arcadia Matina Enclaves in Quimpo Blvd., Davao City.

Various appointees from the different government agencies and departments attended the event, along with members of President Duterte’s 2016 campaign team.

The former presidential aide said he originally did not want to run for a seat in the Philippine Senate. What changed Go's decision was the more than 20 years that he spent working with President Duterte and trusting him with all decisions that he made.

“May mga bagay-bagay po na di naman po nating basta-bastang ipasa kahit kanino lang po. ‘Yung trust and confidence, di naman po na-e-earn overnight ‘yun. 20 years (akong nagtrabaho sa kanya bago) ko ‘yun nakuha,” Go told the event attendees.

Go began in public service more than 20 years ago as the personal aide and executive assistant of the then-Davao City mayor Rodrigo Duterte.

He started working for Duterte upon recommendation of his grandfather, August Tesoro, to run an errand for the former Davao City mayor after Duterte’s former aide, Jimboy Halili, passed away while watching a basketball game.

For many years, Go attended to Duterte’s personal and official matters. Go eventually became a trusted confidant and protégé of the former mayor.

“Nandirito ako ngayon, kandidato ako ngayon, dahil po kay Presidente Duterte at sa tiwala ko sa kanya,” Go said.

Go also called upon his fellow Dabawenyos to continue backing Duterte and his initiatives.

“Sana, sa mga taga-Davao po, nakikiusap ako sa inyo, huwag po nating iwanan ang ating Pangulong Duterte,” Go said.

The Duterte administration has an ongoing three-point program against illegal drugs, criminality, and corruption.

Go said he fully supports the administration and its programs via his legislative agenda.

Included in Go’s legislative agenda are initiatives on health, education, agriculture, housing, long-term sports development, localized peace talks, fire prevention and protection, creation of a Department of OFWs, barangay welfare, as well as improved benefits for senior citizens.

“Wala kaming ibang interes ni Pangulong Duterte; ang hangarin lang namin ay ang kabutihan ng bawat Pilipino,” Go added. (PR)
