MANILA -- The Commission on Appointments (CA) on Wednesday approved the ad interim appointment of Civil Service Commission (CSC) commissioner Aileen Lizada.

Senator Cynthia Villar, chair of the CA’s Committee on Constitutional Commissions and Offices, recommended Lizada’s appointment to the powerful body.

Senator Sonny Angara, who also endorsed Lizada, called on the new commissioner to champion the participation of more women in the government workforce.

Lizada will serve as CSC commissioner until Feb. 2, 2025, according to the appointment paper signed by President Rodrigo Duterte last November 9, 2018.

She took over the post of Robert Martinez as commissioner.

Prior to her appointment to the CSC, Lizada was a member of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB).

She hails from Davao City and has worked for 12 years at the Office of the Ombudsman in Mindanao before she moved to the LTFRB in 2016.

Also confirmed by the CA were five ambassadors and an official of the Department of Foreign Affairs, and senior officers of the Armed Forces of the Philippines. (PNA)
