MANILA -- Quezon City, the country’s so-called Smart City, is conducting a three-day 4th Animation and Information Technology (QCAIT) Fair with the theme “Quezon City towards Future Technology” at the QCX Museum inside the Quezon Memorial Circle from Feb. 26-28.

Organized by the Quezon City Information and Technology Development Office (QCITDO), the QCAIT 2019 presented animation and information technology trends to the city’s junior and senior high school students and other attendees.

The three-day fair is offering mixed reality and vertical reality experiences, gallery displays, as well as demonstrations by industry partners.

The fair is also conducting digital drawing animation, 3D modelling and experimental animation competitions, as well as lectures and seminars on Microsoft education program, online security, digital photography, augmented reality and virtual reality in motion design, and Microsoft mixed reality.

During the fair, the QCITDO announced that it is studying the use of artificial intelligence technology to further improve the services of the city government.

“For example, kailangan ko ng business permit. Sasabihin ng program kung ano ang mga kailangan kong gawin para mas madali ang pagkuha nito (For example, I need a business permit. The program would tell me what I need to do to get it easier),” QCITDO head Reynaldo Paul Magbanua Imjada said in an interview Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Quezon City Schools Division Superintendent, Dr. Natividad Bayubay commended the administration of Mayor Herbert Bautista for organizing the fair the past four years.

“We don’t have this in the schools. So, the students’ exposure to these facilities are a great help to them,” Bayubay said. (PNA)
