MANILA -- Three Kpop groups expressed their excitement to be part of the 2019 Kpop Friendship Concert in Manila scheduled at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City Thursday evening.

Hosted by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and Korean Cultural Center, the concert is among the activities to mark the celebration of 70th year of bilateral relations between Philippines and South Korea this year.

In a press conference, girl group APRIL, and boy bands NCT DREAM and NOIR all said they feel honored to be part of this concert.

APRIL members Chaekyung, Chaewon, Naeun, Yena, Rachel, and Jinsol shared it is their first time in the Philippines. The group started in 2015 and bagged the 2016 Korean Entertainment Arts Award for Female Rookie of the Year. They also won in the Korean Culture & Entertainment Awards in 2017 and in 2018 for the Kpop Artist Award.

The girls admitted that they would also like to try acting.

The nine-member NOIR, on the other hand, already visited Manila last year for a fan meet.

"We are impressed by the Filipino fans, and we are honored to participate (in the Kpop Friendship concert)," NOIR said through an interpreter.

NCT Dream, composed of five young men, was featured in Billboard’s “21 Under 21 2018: Music’s Next Generation” list.

NCT Dream members said they would like to try their performance to be a little sexier in the coming days.

The 2019 Kpop Friendship Concert will be hosted by Kring, Kim & Ryan Bang. (PNA)
