CEBU CITY – More than 100 nurses from Cebu are scheduled to be interviewed on April 4 and 5 for job placements in Germany.

Philippine Overseas Employment Agency (POEA) Regional Center for Visayas chief Evelia Durato told the Philippine News Agency on Friday that the interviews will be conducted by representatives of the government of Germany.

Durato said the recruitment of nurses for Germany, under the joint Triple Win Project (TWP) of the POEA and the German Federal Employment Agency, has been an annual activity of the POEA since the European country opened its doors for Filipino health care providers.

“This regular activity is a government-to-government placement of workers in Germany. We are happy to have new markets for nurses after the United States ceased its recruitment of health care professionals from the Philippines,” Durato said.

Japan and Korea have also opened new markets for nurses and caregivers, she said.

Subject for interview next week at the Best Western Plus Lex Cebu hotel are 102 nurses, who have been pre-selected by the POEA based on the requirements.

Passing the interview, however, is not yet a guarantee as the qualified nurses need to undergo German language training.

“Those who passed the interview must do good in the language training to assure themselves of employment in Germany,” Durato said.

“This is a good opportunity for nurses in the Visayas because the German language training is free, work visa is free, airfare is free, and no placement fee is required,” she added.

She advised nurses interested to work in Germany under the TWP to regularly check the POEA website for announcements of another round of recruitment this year as the German government sometimes conduct interviews in Cebu twice in a year.

Applicants must be Filipino citizens, nursing board exam passers, and must have at least two years of professional experience. (PNA)
