CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga -- The observance of the Holy Week in Central Luzon was generally peaceful, with no crime incident reported, the Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) said Monday.

Police Brig. Gen. Joel Napoleon Coronel, PRO3 director, said "no untoward incident happened during the Holy Week" owing to the tight security measures carried out by police personnel.

Coronel said the peaceful Lent observance can be attributed to the early deployment of some 5,500 PNP personnel to ensure the safety and security of the general public, especially in the pilgrimage sites and churches in the region.

“We have deployed additional 500 personnel just for the Holy Week alone and I commend them for their assiduousness in performing their duties which paid off,” he said.

Coronel also thanked the public for their cooperation.

“Once again, I am asking the public for their continued support all throughout the election period,” the PRO3 director said.

“Our hotline numbers 09998838327/09176235700 are always reachable and our police stations are open 24/7. So, do not hesitate to report any relevant information relative to our anti-criminality campaign,” Coronel said.

He added that the police assistance desks and motorists assistance centers are in place until the third week of June in convergence points, particularly in bus terminals, airport, seaports and recreational areas including highways, main thoroughfares, and crime-prone areas to ensure maximum police presence.
