LAOAG CITY – The Schools Division of Ilocos Norte (SDOIN) is the first to establish its own Disaster Risk Reduction Management (DRRM) office among all schools division in Region 1.

This is to facilitate a more organized disaster response team during calamities, such as typhoon, earthquake, and other natural calamities.

Equipped with its own disaster response equipment, the DRRM office is housed inside the division office of Ilocos Norte near the conference hall located at the southern part of the division compound.

DRRM Coordinator George Emman D. Manuel, who is tasked to implement disaster resiliency among students and learners, said this is also "part of our preparation for the ISO Surveillance Audit to have our own disaster office in the division to facilitate a more organized disaster response."

To equip the office with proper mitigation and education skills, the office has a generator set, hard hats, raincoats, rubber boots, radio transmitter, emergency lights, and a megaphone. (PNA)
