DAVAO CITY – Police units in Region 11 have confiscated more than PHP8 million worth of shabu and marijuana in police operations from April 15 to 21, a police official said Thursday.

Brig. Gen. Marcelo Morales, Police Regional Office-11 director, said the continued campaign against illegal drugs in the region also led to the arrest of 31 drug suspects.

Morales said a total of 24 anti-illegal drug operations were conducted during the period that led to the confiscation of 147.136 grams of shabu with an estimated value of PHP4.8 million.

Police also seized marijuana with an estimated market value of PHP3.4 million.

Morales said one of the most productive operations over the weekend involved the arrest of two big-time drug pushers in Barangay Tibungco here.

Morales identified the arrested suspects as Nasser Igasan, 37, a resident of Purok Rambutan Datu Abdul Panabo City; and Michaella Joy Fernandez, 23, a resident of Malabon.

Recovered from the possession of the suspects were four big sachets containing shabu weighing more or less 150 grams with an estimated street value of more or less PHP1.8 million.

On April 19, some five hectares planted with marijuana in Kiblawan town, Davao del Sur, were uprooted by the police and personnel of the Army's 39th Infantry Battalion.

"These accomplishments reflect the dedication and unwavering support of PRO-11 to the marching order of President Rodrigo Duterte to stamp out the proliferation of illegal drugs in the country," Morales said. (PNA)
