TACURONG CITY  – A pilot miraculously survived a plane crash early Saturday in Lambayong, Sultan Kudarat, police said.

It was the second spray plane crash in Sultan Kudarat since April 15 when a crop duster also crashed in Lambayong town.

Capt. Herman Luna, Lambayong town police chief, identified the pilot of the aircraft with body number RP-R4418 as Capt. Videl Arquiza of Davao City-based Pacific Aerial Spraying Services.

Luna said the plane crashed around 5:30 a.m. while on a spraying sortie over the Delinanas banana plantation in Barangay Reneben, Lambayong, Sultan Kudarat.

“We suspect it was due to mechanical error as the plane turned upside down when it crashed,” Luna said.

On April 15, a pilot of Agcat spray plane owned by Davao City-based Air Works Corporation crashed in Barangay Sigayan, also in Lambayong town.

Piloted by Capt. Edcel Luciano, the plane was then conducting spray missions over the Delinanas banana plantation in Datu Abdullah Sangki, Maguindanao.

The plane went on fire but luckily, Capt. Luciano managed to escape with minor injuries. (PNA)
