Major Cebu roads closed on Sunday for wellness fun run

CEBU CITY – Six major thoroughfares in this city will have a half-road closure at dawn on Sunday, May 5, to give way to the IPI Run 2019 #iamforwellness fun run organized by a home-grown pharmaceutical and consumer products manufacturer here.

Expected participants are some 6,000 runners coming from the active sectors of the community, including senior citizens, persons with disabilities (PWDs), and mothers.

According to the International Pharmaceuticals Inc. (IPI) in its statement posted on social media, it is “always one to support activities that foster overall health and wellness.”

IPI “has always moved forward with the ultimate goal of providing wellness to all in all ways,” it said in a separate statement posted on the internet.

It said that for the for the past six decades, the company has “supported holistic activities that mold its participants into well-rounded human beings.”

Accordingly, IPI conceptualized the prestigious sports events Omega Triathlon Team, Omega Pro Sports International, and Casino Sharks, that have garnered a steady fanbase.

Starting at 2 a.m., half of S. Osmeña Street up to Plaza Independencia on M.J. Cuenco Avenue and Legaspi Extension will be closed to traffic.

At the same time, the Provincial Capitol area along Osmeña Boulevard going to D. Jakosalem Street (at the back of Basilica Minore del Sto. Niño and Cebu City Hall area) will also be closed to vehicular traffic.

From 2 a.m. to 5:30 a.m. of the same day, half of the lane of the Gorordo-Escario corridor – from JY Square to Capitol area will be closed for traffic, while the Pope John Paul II Avenue up to Salinas Drive will be closed from 2 a.m. to 6 a.m. (PNA)
