Drug den dismantled; 19 others nabbed in Bacolod buy-busts

BACOLOD CITY -- A total of 19 persons were arrested in separate buy-bust operations conducted by operatives of Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) here between Friday and Sunday.

On Friday, seven persons were apprehended in a drug den at Sitio Sibucao, Barangay Banago during a raid conducted by agents of PDEA-Negros Occidental Provincial Office (PDEA-NOPO) around 4:30 p.m.

Those arrested were identified as Frullan Babila Cui, Jemar Elisan Balcero, Jomari Manzanares Gayares, Martin Asin Gomez, Deither Castro Trecho, Ramil Tribeles Gomez, and Ramuel Miranda Lopez.

The suspects yielded five sachets of suspected shabu weighing about 15 grams valued at PHP102,000.

A report of PDEA-Negros Occidental said the operatives are preparing cases for violation of Article II, Section 5 (sale of dangerous drugs), Section 6 (maintenance of a drug den), Section 7 (visitors of a drug den), Section 11 (possession of dangerous drugs) and Section 12 (possession of equipment for dangerous drugs) of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 against the suspects.

Meanwhile, seven operations conducted by Bacolod police drug enforcement teams in two days led to the arrest of 12 persons.

High-value target Nolito Cuadra, 53, and two others were arrested in a buy-bust at Purok Sigay, Barangay 2, on Friday night.

Cuadra, who sold a sachet of shabu worth PHP1,000 to a poseur-buyer, was caught with his son Ryan Cuadra, 26, and Mark Anthony Galicia, 29.

The joint operatives, composed of personnel from the City Drug Enforcement Unit, Bacolod City Mobile Force Company, and Police Station 2, seized 13 sachets of shabu estimated to be worth PHP240,000.

Hernane, 45, and Hervon, 40, both surnamed Aguilar, were also caught by operatives of Police Station 6 at Purok Gonzaga, Barangay Taculing.

They sold PHP300 worth of shabu to an undercover policeman and yielded seven sachets of the same prohibited substance with a still undetermined value.

High-value target Elbert Casiano, 51, was arrested by personnel of Police Station 3 at Purok Kasagingan, Barangay Banago.

The suspect was caught red-handed selling PHP500 worth of shabu to a poseur-buyer and was also found with six sachets of similar substance.

On Saturday, a team from Police Station 3 also arrested Rolly Gumabras, 39, at Purok Tinagong Paraiso, Barangay Banago.

Gumabras sold a sachet of shabu worth PHP500 to undercover policemen and yielded six sachets more.

Three suspects were also apprehended by operatives of Police Station 7 at Purok Balinday, Barangay 2, on the same day. Police identified the suspects as Warren Alabos, 42; Marvic Diola, 25; and Francisco Nuñal, 56.

The three yielded one big and three elongated sachets of shabu with an estimated market value of PHP150,000.

Richard Perma, 37, meanwhile, was arrested at Purok Narra Baybay, Barangay 8, after selling a sachet of shabu worth PHP200 to a poseur-buyer of Police Station 8. The suspect also yielded seven additional sachets of the same prohibited substance.

On Sunday, Herman Olpenda, 45, was apprehended by operatives of Police Station 9 at Purok Ma-inabyanon, Barangay Sum-ag. He sold PHP500 worth of shabu to an undercover policeman and was found possessing four more sachets during the operation conducted around 12:30 a.m. (PNA)
