BACOLOD CITY -- Ceres-Negros is poised to complete a six-game sweep of its Group G rivals in the 2019 AFC Cup as it takes on Vietnam’s Becamex Binh Duong at the Panaad Park and Stadium on Wednesday night.
The Philippines Football League champions currently has 15 points after winning all four home and away matches against Indonesia’s Persija Jakarta and Myanmar’s Shan United, and one away game against the Vietnamese squad.
Ceres-Negros head coach Risto Vidakovich said there is no longer pressure on the team in this last group match.
“I don’t like this kind of game because we need pressure,” he said.
Still, Vidakovich said he hopes the fans will come to watch them play offensive football and score goals.
Defender Sean Kane said Ceres-Negros wants to maintain its winning streak in the group stage before heading to the semifinals.
“Especially for me, getting 90 minutes during the match against Shan United is very important, it makes me more prepared for the game against Becamex,” he added.

Meanwhile, another Filipino club, Kaya FC-Iloilo, lost the chance to progress to the knockout rounds after losing 0-2 to Home United in the Group H match on Tuesday. (PNA)
