BEIJING -- Big names in Asia’s entertainment industry joined the celebration of the region’s culture and civilization in this city during the three-day Conference on Dialogue of Asian Civilizations (CDAC).
Kung Fu star Jackie Chan, South Korean singer Rain, Korean boy band EXO member Lay Zhang, Hong Kong singer William Chan, Singaporean Singer JJ Lin, and Kazakh singer Dimash Kudaibergen were among the Asian stars who performed during CDAC’s Asian Culture Carnival.
Chinese singers Zhang Jie, Yan Weimen, Zhou Xiaolin, Wei Song, and Jane Zhang also performed along with over 8,000 Asian artists in the 15,000-square meter stage of the cultural show.
Filipino singer Aicelle Santos sang her rendition of Basil Valdez’s “Nais Ko”.
Italian singer Andrea Bocelli also performed Nessun Dorma.
Chinese President Xi Jinping and First Lady Peng Liyuan, along with other Asian leaders and their spouses, also watched the event. Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni also graced the cultural performance event.
The Asian Culture Carnival, held at the National Stadium in Beijing on Wednesday evening, showcased performances such as dance, songs, instruments, and high-tech stage effects from the world’s largest continent.
“Art will transcend the ethnic boundaries, connect hearts, and bridge ideas, presenting to the world a shining Asia, a dynamic Asia, and a peaceful Asia,” Xi said in his welcome remarks in the gala.
Meanwhile, Bollywood actor and director Aamir Khan participated in Global Influence of Asian Civilizations Forum of CDAC on Wednesday.
In his speech, Khan said it is important for the people in the region to know what kind of influence they want to be to the world.
Khan was also asked if one wants to go global, is it important to start in Asia, particularly in China. He answered, “If you’re honest with the stories you want to tell, they will automatically reach the world.”
The Indian superstar is famous globally, especially in Southeast Asia and China. His films “Dangal” and “Secret Superstar” are two top grossing Indian films in China.
CDAC, under the theme “Exchanges and Mutual Learning among Asian Civilizations and a Community with a Shared Future, will conclude here Friday. (PNA)
