DAGUPAN CITY -- A lawyer was shot dead across the Hall of Justice here early Friday morning.
Col. Wilson Joseph Lopez, Pangasinan Police Provincial Director, in an interview Friday, identified the victim as Lawyer Val Crisostomo.

“He was standing outside of an eatery when a lone gunman waylaid him and fired several shots, then said gunman approached another unidentified man in a motorcycle and they drove away,” Lopez said.

Crisostomo was brought to a nearby hospital but was declared dead on arrival by attending physicians.

The Scene of the Crime Operation (SOCO) recovered eight empty shells of caliber .45 pistol.

Pangasinan police is now looking into the possible motive of the killing.

Meanwhile, the different chapters of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) condemned the murder of their colleague.

“IBP Ilocos Norte chapter extends its heartfelt condolences to the family of our fallen brethren in the legal profession. We join IBP Pangasinan in condemning the dastardly and nonsensical carnage committed against a brother lawyer,” posted by Richard Tumaneng of IBP Ilocos Norte on Facebook. (PNA)
