MANILA -- Ronald Mascariñas remains hopeful that the Philippines will make the inaugural 3x3 competition in the Summer Olympics.

This, despite Pasig bowing out early into the FIBA 3x3 Kunshan Challenger over the weekend.

"We are not giving up on our Olympic dream because of this setback," Mascariñas, the owner of the Chooks-To-Go Pilipinas 3x3 League, said in a statement.

Pasig got the boot in the pool stages on Saturday night, losing to Sosnovy Bor and Liman in Pool A play.

"We lost to the better teams," Mascariñas said.

Still, he lauded the Kings, consisting of Taylor Statham, Joshua Munzon, Troy Rike, and Dylan Ababou, for the gallant stand.

"Taylor, Joshua, Troy, and Dylan, you played with a lot of heart and we are proud of you," Mascariñas said.

With the Moscow Challenger, a qualifier for the World Tour Prague Masters, up next for Pasig, Mascariñas vowed that the team will go there an improved team.

"We will continue to prepare and play harder to make our country proud," he said. (PNA)
