CEBU CITY – The Bureau of Customs Port of Cebu (BOC-Cebu) will soon dispose of seized pornographic items smuggled from China, a customs official said on Monday.

BOC-Cebu District Collector Elvira Cruz said the owner identified as Coleman Timothy Philip did not declare the items he was carrying when he arrived at the Mactan Cebu International Airport (MCIA).

BOC X-ray Inspection Project examiner, Hevelyn Marzado, conducted a physical examination on Philip’s baggage and discovered undeclared items such as a box of Viagra and various sex toys.

“The passenger failed to declared the items when he arrived at the airport,” Cruz said.

The Customs Enforcement and Security Service (ESS) in Cebu was ordered to take custody of the paraphernalia due to strict implementation of Customs Memorandum Order No. 8-84.

The district collector issued a warrant of seizure and detention (WSD) against the undeclared sex items, as they arrived the sub-port “in violation of Section 1113 Section (f) in relation to Section 118, Section 1113 (i), Section 1113 (l) and Section 1404 of the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act”.

Cruz hailed the customs personnel from the Sub-port of Mactan Passenger Service under office in charge (OIC), lawyer Ricardo Morales II, stationed at the Mactan airport, for the seizure of the smuggled items.

Special Agent II Robert Terence Monteño said the seized paraphernalia are now stored for safekeeping while waiting for final disposition. (PNA)
