ILOILO CITY -- The Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) on Tuesday said it can now disburse Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations (AICS).

The disbursement of AICS was temporarily suspended on March 29 as mandated by the Commission on Elections (Comelec) Resolution Number 10511, which barred public officials or employees, barangay officials, government-owned or controlled corporations from releasing or disbursing public funds from March 29 to May 12, 2019.

Dr. Neneth Pador, PSWDO chief, said the office has started disbursing assistance last week. “Clients needing financial and burial assistance can now go and seek assistance from our office,” she said in an interview Tuesday.

Those who seek for medical assistance must comply with the requirements, which include medical certificate and hospital bill from the hospital, certificate of indigency from Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO), and Certificate of Residency from their respective village chiefs.

The financial assistance that will be received by the client will depend on his or her hospital bill, Pador said.

Meanwhile, those who seek for burial assistance must submit the original copy of death certificate, certificate of indigency from their respective MSWDO, and certificate of residency from their respective village chiefs to receive the province’ assistance of PHP3,000.

Those who came to ask for medical assistance from the PSWDO during the ban were referred to the Department of Social Welfare and Development in Western Visayas and Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office, Pador said.

More or less 30 to 80 individuals seek the assistance from the PSWDO every day, she added. (PNA)
