MANILA -- The Department of Education (DepEd) opened on Sunday the application for the Senior High School Voucher Program (SHS VP) for school year 2019-2020.

In a statement on Saturday night, the DepEd said interested Grade 10 completers may apply manually or online starting Sunday until May 31 for manual applications, and June 2 for online applications.

For manual applications, the Voucher Application Form (VAF-1) must be filled out and submitted or personally mailed, together with the complete requirements, to the PEAC National Secretariat at the 5th floor of Salamin Building, 197 Salcedo St., Makati City.

Meanwhile, online applicantion can be accomplished by creating accounts on the Online Voucher Application Portal (OVAP) through ovac.peac.org.ph. where applicants can submit filled out forms and scanned copy of complete requirements.

DepEd stressed that applications submitted after the deadline will not be accepted, and the results of the applications will be announced on June 17.

The SHS VP, done in coordination with the Private Education Assistance Committee, provides financial assistance to qualified Grade 10 completers to pursue their desired SHS education in private schools, state universities and colleges (SUCs), and local universities and colleges (LUCs) that offer SHS.

It is one of the government's initiatives to make basic education accessible and affordable for Filipino learners nationwide.

SHS VP is open to all Grade 10 completers in private schools who are not Education Service Contracting (ESC) grantees.

Grade 10 completers from public schools, LUCs and SUCs and those from private schools who are ESC program grantees are automatically qualified for the SHS VP so they not need apply. (PNA)
