BACOLOD CITY -- A resident of this city believed to be high on drugs is facing charges for stabbing his two young daughters while they were sleeping on Wednesday morning.

The suspect is a 41-year-old resident of Purok Paraiso, Sitio Sibucao in Barangay Banago.

His name is being withheld by the Women and Children Protection Desk of Bacolod City Police Station 3, where he is now detained.

Cpl. Jennelyn Gallego, case investigator, said in a radio interview on Thursday they are preparing charges of frustrated parricide against the suspect.

The case will be filed either on Thursday or Friday, she added.

A police report showed that around 6:45 a.m., the suspect took a pair of scissors and stabbed his three-year-old and two-year-old daughters on their necks while they were asleep.

The victims, who were treated at Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital, are now in stable condition, Gallego said.

The suspect’s wife told the police that her husband uses illegal drugs, and he was unable to sleep for almost five days when he attacked his daughters. (PNA)
