TECO now accepting applicants for Taiwan Fellowship

MANILA -- Filipino researchers still have less than a month to apply for the Taiwan Fellowship which ends on June 30, the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) in Manila said.

The Taiwan Fellowship, sponsored by Taiwan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), seeks to produce researches related to Taiwan, cross-strait relations, China, Asia-Pacific region, Sinology, Taiwan’s participation in regional economic integration, the New Southbound Policy, Asia-Pacific regional security, and countermeasures against disinformation and gender studies.

The online application for Filipinos started on May 1. The recipients will undertake their research in Taiwan from January 1, 2020 to December 31, 2020.

The MOFA will sponsor the recipients with monthly grants paid at the beginning of each month.

For professor, associate professor, research fellow, or associate research fellow, the financial assistance is worth around NT60,000, or about PHP100,000.

While for assistant professor, assistant research fellow, or doctoral candidate, the grant is worth NT50,000, or around PHP84,000.

One round-trip air-ticket will also be shouldered by the MOFA, including accident insurance coverage.

TECO said the duration of the Fellowship ranges from three to 12 months.
