MANILA -- President Rodrigo Duterte has appointed former Philippine National Police (PNP) Directorate for Intelligence, Gregorio Pimentel, as Deputy Director General of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).

Duterte appointed Pimentel on June 4 but a copy of his appointment paper was released to media on Monday (June 10).

Pimentel will replace Jesus Fajardo, who was appointed as deputy commissioner of the Bureau of Customs (BOC).

Prior to his stint as PNP Directorate for Intelligence, Pimentel was head of the PNP Highway Patrol Group in Davao City.

In January 2018, Duterte was primary sponsor at the wedding of Pimentel and his wife, singer and Social Welfare Assistant Secretary Michelle Ortega.

Aside from Pimentel, Duterte also appointed Maria Fe Pili Aliño as member of the board of directors at the People's Television Network Inc. representing the private sector and broadcast industry; Luningning Misuarez-Umar as member of the Philippine Commission on Women representing the indigenous peoples sector; Sherwin Mylil Sepe Begyan as member of the board of directors at the Mindanao Development Authority representing the business sector; and Elizabeth Chaves Lagrito as member of the Professional Regulatory Board of Nursing at the Professional Regulation Commission, among others.
