MANILA — For new Imus team manager Lou Abad, Jayjay Helterbrand "still got game" at age 42.

Kayang-kaya pa niya maglaro (He can still play)," Abad said.

The former Ginebra star recently came out of retirement to suit up for the Bandera in the upcoming Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) season.

Currently, Helterbrand plays for the Barangay's legends in the PBA Legends Faceoff, a mini-tournament organized by UNTV.

But even there, Helterbrand is proving that he still has what it takes to give club basketball another try.

"As you can see, he is still well-conditioned given that he has not stopped in playing regularly sa iba’t-ibang mga liga (in different leagues). He can still keep up with the young guys," Abad said.

Helterbrand headlines a retooled Bandera lineup for the MPBL's third season, to be known as the Lakandula Cup.

Also headlining Imus is actor Gerald Anderson, who signed with the team after playing for Marikina last season.

"We’re thrilled to have Jayjay Helterbrand and Gerald Anderson play side-by-side with each other," Abad added.

The MPBL season will start on Wednesday night at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay, but Bandera will debut the night after in a road game against the Caloocan Supremos. (PNA)
