MANILA -- Manila Water announced on Tuesday another round of water interruptions in the East Zone Area, which covers Metro Manila and its environs, lasting from eight to 12 hours nightly due to a low-level outlet (LLO) in Angat Dam.

In an email to the Philippine News Agency (PNA), Manila Water group head for corporate strategic affairs, Jeric T. Sevilla Jr., said the National Water Resources Board decided to reduce allocation to concessionaires from the current 46 cubic meters per second (CMS) to 40 CMS to fine-tune the preparation of the LLO, as water level in Angat Dam nears its critical level of 160 meters.

“This will affect water supply going to our treatment plants and consequently, our ability to refill our reservoirs. We are therefore constrained to implement a new scheme of rotational water service interruptions for the entire East Zone for about eight to 12 hours during night time," he said.

"We will post the schedule of water interruptions in our social media platforms. We will continue to provide regular updates regarding water supply outlook for the East Zone,” Sevilla added.

He urged Manila Water customers to store and conserve water during this period. (PNA)
