DAVAO CITY -- A Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) official died after he was shot by a police undercover agent during a buy-bust operation on Tuesday night at Barangay 28-C here.

City Police Spokesperson, Capt. Maria Theresita Gaspan, said on Wednesday that Barangay 28-C SK Kagawad Raymart Durias Duran, 23, single, a resident of 4-1, Gov. Sales Street, was neutralized after engaging the police officer posing as poseur-buyer in a shootout.

Duran, also known as alias Kagid, was able to sell suspected shabu to the police undercover in exchange of PHP500.

Gaspan said that after the police officer identified himself, Duran resisted and drew his firearm.

The police officer was able to tap away and parry the hand of Duran who was about to fire a gun. The police officer also drew his gun and shot Duran on the right shoulder.

Duran still aimed his firearm, prompting the police to fire another shot. Duran was taken to the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC) where he died.

Recovered from Duran were three sachets of suspected shabu and the marked PHP500 bill.

Prior to the operation, Gaspan said the suspect was identified as the suspect in the robbery incident at Ramon Magsaysay Avenue here.

"This office received information from the Barangay Intelligence Network that subject person was also involved in theft and robbery incidents and now, in peddling illegal drugs," she said. (PNA)
