BIÑAN — The Philippines Football League (PFL) declared an abandonment in the scheduled showdown between Global Makati and Mendiola.

Both Metro Manila sides were supposed to kick off at 3:30 p.m. Saturday (June 22) at the Biñan Football Stadium, but the match was called off after a delay that lasted for 30 minutes.

In a statement later in the night, the PFL explained, "The incident was caused by a match organizational issue which falls under the responsibility of the home team."

Global Makati, whose own turf, the University of Makati Athletic Oval, remains unavailable for the moment, is the designated host of the said game.

However, the PFL clarified, "This is simply an isolated case which shall be dealt with immediately and accordingly."

Still, the league further said, "The status of the said match shall be referred to the LFI (Liga Futbol Inc.) board for its decision." (PNA)
