MANILA — The main event of the first triple-header of the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) this season was abruptly halted due to slippery floor.

The clash between Navotas and Rizal at the Navotas Sports Complex on Tuesday was stopped by halftime as arena moppers struggled to keep the hardwood dry for the remainder of the match.

With the venue being non-airconditioned, both teams had to deal with a humid playing atmosphere highlighted by the slippery floor.

During halftime, Commissioner Kenneth Duremdes inspected the playing area and eventually postponed the game.

At that point, the Clutch was leading the Crusaders, 56-39.

It was not the only time Navotas' match had to be postponed. Last year, the team's clash with Muntinlupa, also at the Navotas Sports Complex, was halted due to a broken rim.

The Clutch-Crusaders battle will resume at the end of the eliminations, if deemed necessary.

However, the first two games of the card went on as scheduled.

GenSan edged Marikina, 96-89, while Quezon City romped Biñan City, 110-85. (PNA)
