LEGAZPI CITY -- Two New People’s Army (NPA) rebels were killed early Friday morning in a clash with Army soldiers in a remote village of Caramoan town in Camarines Sur, an Army report said.

Maj. Ricky Aguilar, Army 9th Infantry Division (ID) public affairs chief, said Army troops on patrol encountered a 20-man rebel group at around 5:15 a.m. in Sitio (sub-village) Mauban, Barangay (village) Mampirao.

The firefight between the Army soldiers and the communist rebel group led to the death of two NPA rebels whose identities are still unknown as of press time.

After the clash, government troops recovered five high-powered firearms at the site of the clash, Aguilar said. (PNA)
