GENERAL SANTOS CITY -- The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in Region 12 (Soccsksargen) is seeking to develop more competitive micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) through its innovative business services program dubbed Nego Solusyon.

DTI-12 Director Dorecita Delima said Monday they have launched a series of information campaigns to expand the program's implementation, mainly offering a package of business-related services starting from the setting up of new ventures to upgrading and expansion.

The initiative is part of the agency's continuing efforts to make our MSMEs more competitive as well as develop new products and enterprises in the area, Delima said.

She said the Nego Solusyon series started last month in Cotabato City and catered to some 220 existing and would-be entrepreneurs, and that five more events are going to be held from July to November in key cities and municipalities in the region.

These events will be held in Isulan town and Tacurong City in Sultan Kudarat on July 29-31; Kidapawan City on Aug. 13-14; Koronadal City on Sept. 10-12; Alabel town in Sarangani on Oct. 8-9; and, this city on Nov. 13-17.

"We're bringing our services directly to our MSMEs and other interested sectors and address their concerns through available solutions," she said in a press conference for the formal launching of the Nego Solusyon series.

Nego Solusyon is a package of customized package of business-related services developed by the agency for existing and prospective MSMEs.

Flora Gabunales, DTI-South Cotabato provincial director, the initiative has six main components -- the NegoCoach, NegoLink, NegoModels, NegoPack, NegoTalks, and NegoTech.

Gabunales said the NegoCoach provides an opportunity for aspiring entrepreneurs for free one-on-one business coaching sessions with experts and entrepreneur-mentors.

The agency will help link local MSMEs to financing institutions and supply chains through the NegoLink and explore business models for possible innovations and expansions through the NegoModels, she said.

Under the NegoPack, Gabunales said interested MSMEs will get assistance in helping build up their brands through packaging.

She said the NegoTalks, which involves a series of business seminars, mainly intends to increase the competitive advantage of entrepreneurs by helping them start with the right mindset and tools.

NegoTech focuses on helping improve the productivity and efficiency of MSMEs by introducing them to enhanced technologies. (PNA)
