MANILA -- Filipinos are urged to take advantage of the recently announced extension of the Taiwan visa-free entry for the Philippines until 2020 and avail of travel deals at the July 4 Travel Madness Expo (TME) at the SMX Convention Center in Manila.

According to Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Manila, the Taiwan Pavilion will be located at booth 57 to 64 at the TME, which will run from July 4 to July 7.

"So as to encourage Filipino travelers to tour Taiwan, a small, limited-edition gift will be given by completing a travel questionnaire online," it said.

"Anyone who purchases a Taiwan travel itinerary or an independent tour package at the exhibition will receive either a USB handheld fan or a double layer insulated lunch box at the Taiwan Tourism Bureau counter," it added.

In addition to an array of Taiwanese events at the TME, the TECO said its “Ten Drum Art Percussion Group” will be performing live daily at the convention center's main stage, where potential travelers can experience firsthand the "deep and diverse vitality of Taiwan" through their innovative and exuberant drum art.

For three and half days during the TME, the Taiwan Pavilion will also be presenting the latest tourism information on Taiwan, along with do-it-yourself events representing the tourist-draw activities in small towns throughout the island.

These activities include the absorbent ceramic coaster painting from Yingge (North), wooden puzzle pig making from Lukang Changhua (Central), and the giving away of blessing drum charm from Ten Drum Tainan (South).

In collaboration with the Formosa Summer Festival now celebrated in Taiwan, the Taiwan Leisure Farms Development Association will be making a limited quantity of Aiyu jelly drink on site for a free tasting.

To bolster the cooperation between Taiwanese and Filipino travel operators, the Taiwan delegation has scheduled a B2B Workshop on July 8 at the Pan Pacific Manila, and on July 10 at the Seda Ayala Center Cebu.

The sessions aim to build up bilateral connections through the participation of the Philippines’ travel industry and its media, to generate more cooperation opportunities, and to attract a greater number of Filipinos to tour Taiwan. (PNA)
