LEGAZPI CITY --- A criminal gang leader was killed on Monday in an encounter with police operatives in a remote village of Juban town in Sorsogon, a police report said.
Maj. Maria Luisa Calubaquib, Police Regional Office-5 (Bicol) spokesperson, said Ralph Deri, leader of Deri Criminal Gang, was killed in a clash with a crack team of policemen in a sub-village of Barangay Rangas.
Police operatives were on surveillance operation when they chanced upon the gang leader which eventually led to a brief firefight at around 11:30 a.m.
The victim sustained fatal gunshot wounds and was killed on the spot.
Deri’s group, according to the police, is involved in robbery hold-up and gun-for-hire cases in Sorsogon. (PNA)
