COTABATO CITY -- The police-led Special Investigation Task Group (SITG) in Kidapawan City bared that it has on its list several “persons of interest” in the July 10 murder of radio broadcaster Eduardo “Ed” Dizon of Brigada News FM in the area.

“The SITG-Dizon has already gathered information that will help identify the brains in the murder of the radio commentator,” Lt. Col. Maria Joyce Birrey, police chief of Kidapawan City, said over local radio on Saturday.

Birrey said the SITG has in its possession three closed-circuit television footage that captured the 10 p.m. shooting of Dizon, who was driving his white Mitsubishi Mirage sedan on his way home from work.

She said an earlier police blotter that Dizon filed with the city police for alleged threats on his life could also help in the investigation and fast resolution of the case.

Dizon was the host of “Tira Brigada”, a public affairs program of Brigada News FM,  where he used to be the station manager.
In October last year, Dizon resigned to run for councilor of Makilala for the May 2019 polls but failed in his bid.

His wife, Madonna, was the Brigada-Kidapawan station manager at the time when he returned as radio commentator after the election.

Madonna believes that the murder of her husband could be work-related. On July 3, Dizon went to the police station and put on record the threats aired by Bong Encarnacion, a former media officer of the Kapa (Kabus Padatuon) ministry international, an alleged investment scam, over the latter's radio program.

Encarnacion could not be reached for comments as of this posting. (PNA)
