MANILA -- Local carrier Cebu Pacific (CEB) on Sunday afternoon sought passengers' understanding over the delay in its Clark to Davao flight.

In its social media post, the carrier claimed a lightning alert was raised at the Clark International Airport from 1:58 p.m. to 3:41 p.m.

During a red lightning alert, ramp movement for both aircraft and ramp personnel is temporarily suspended as a safety measure to prevent any untoward incident. Lightning may endanger the lives of both passengers and personnel, and flight operations.

CEB explained it could not board or unload passengers and baggage during a red lighting alert.

The Clark-Davao Flight 5J 985 was delayed for more than two hours.

"We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused," CEB said. (PNA)
