BINAN -- Stallion Laguna cruised to a 6-2 win against Air Force in what turned out to be the only midweek Philippines Football League action that pushed through at the Binan Football Stadium on Wednesday.

Even without Head Coach Ernie Nierras, who according to Interim Coach Richard Leyble had to attend a personal meeting, Stallion Laguna got the better of Air Force despite conceding the opening goal.

Glenn Bulaquina stunned the spectators after putting Air Force on the board with a 13th minute goal.

But Christian Nana (22nd minute), Jhan-Jhan Melliza (25th), and Nicolas Ferrer (31st) each struck a goal for Stallion Laguna as the home side raced to a 3-1 lead.

Jake Hugo kept Air Force in the match with a 37th minute goal, but Balut Doctora answered a minute later and Abou Sy added another in the 41st minute as Stallion Laguna headed into halftime ahead, 5-2.

Sy then delivered the icing on the cake for the host as he scored in stoppage time of the second half for the fulltime tally.

Stallion Laguna, now tied on points with Green Archers United at 14, moved up to third place in the league table due to a superior goal difference.

Air Force, on the other hand, failed to move out of the cellar despite Global Makati's scheduled match against Ceres Negros at the PFF National Training Centre in Carmona getting canceled and remained stuck at one point.

The supposed clash between Global Makati and Ceres Negros was declared "abandoned" by the league "due to the inability of Global [Makati] FC to field a team."

This is the second time Global Makati had its match abandoned, the other time being an abandonment of its scheduled showdown against Mendiola here last month due to concerns regarding Global Makati's supposed hosting of the match.

On Sunday, Global Makati only had 12 men available against Green Archers United, and the latter took advantage of the former's lack of manpower with a 9-0 rout also at the PFF National Training Centre. (PNA)
