SAN ANTONIO, Nueva Ecija -- The municipal government of San Antonio is stepping up its infrastructure program, in coordination with the provincial government of Nueva Ecija, the town's chief executive said Wednesday afternoon.
Mayor Arvin Salonga announced his plan to concretize more road sections and build covered courts as he, along with members of the Sangguniang Bayan, led the inauguration of a PHP2.2-million two-story barangay hall of Camajuan village here.
He said coordinative efforts with the provincial government under Governor Aurelio Umali will pave the way for concreting of more roads in remote villages of this municipality.
"Ito'y simula pa lamang ng ating mga programa sa bayan ng San Antonio at ako'y nagpapasalamat sa pakikiisa ng barangay ng Camajuan at umasa po kayo na anuman po ang inyong mga development project, sabi ko nga kay kapitan kung may lupa pa siya (barangay) susundan natin ng gym kung gusto ninyo (This is just the start of our programs in the town of San Antonio. I am thankful for the cooperation of Barangay Camajuan. Rest assured that whatever development projects you have, I told chairman that if there is still an available lot, we will put up a gym if you want)," the mayor said.
Salonga, who ran unopposed during the last elections, said Umali has been supportive of the town's development.
He said the barangay hall project that may also serve as an evacuation center in times of calamity will be funded locally, particularly from the municipality's 20-percent development fund.
The town officials, after the groundbreaking ceremony for the barangay hall, proceeded to also break ground the construction of a multi-purpose gymnasium in Barangay Lawang Kupang costing PHP1.997 million. (PNA)
