Pagadian TESDA graduate joins int'l skills competition

ZAMBOANGA CITY -- A technical-vocational graduate from this region is one of the 10 Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) trainees, who will represent the Philippines in the six-day international skills competition in Russia.

The 45th World Skills Competition is set to run from August 22 to 27 this year at the Expo International Exhibition Center in Kazan, Russia.

Leonido Lomoljo, 22, a techvoc graduate of TESDA Provincial Training Center in Pagadian City, will be one of the country's representatives, said Bon Rafael Padayhag, TESDA regional information officer.

Having already won a bronze medal in the ASEAN Skills Competition in Bangkok, Thailand in 2018, Lomoljo, now aims for gold under the Refrigeration and Air Conditioning category.

“I am truly honored and grateful as a Filipino to represent our country in the ASEAN Skills Competition in the field of Refrigeration and Air Conditioning,” Lomoljo said.

“My heart is filled with gratitude to TESDA for their unwavering support to us. With the guidance and blessings of the Lord, we will come home victorious,” he added.

Padayhag said the “Team Pilipinas” will compete in nine skill areas, namely: Web Design Technologies, Restaurant Service, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, Graphic Design Technology, IT Solutions for Business, Cyber Security, Hairdressing, Automobile Technology, and Electrical Installation and Maintenance.
