MANILA – President Rodrigo Duterte has appointed naturalized Filipino businessman Peter Wallace as member of the Ease of Doing Business and Anti-Red Tape Council of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).

According to new list appointments released by Malacañang on Wednesday, Duterte signed Wallace’s appointment on July 29, representing the private sector in the council.

Wallace, an Australian businessman who has been living in the Philippines for over four decades now, was granted Filipino citizenship through Republic Act No. 10685 signed by former president Benigno Aquino III on Sept. 28, 2015.

Under the law, Wallace can enjoy “all the rights, privileges and prerogatives, as well as the duties and obligations appurtenant thereto under the Constitution and the laws of the Republic of the Philippines.”

Duterte also appointed Juliana Sunga as Justice undersecretary, Antonio Bautista as Department of National Defense assistant secretary, Milagros Javellana as Career Executive Service Board member, Purisimo Tiam as member of the Cagayan Economic Zone Authority board, and Franklin Monteverde as ad-interim member of the Judicial Bar Council (JBC), representing the Integrated Bar of the Philippines.

Monteverde was former chairman of the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System. (PNA)
