ZAMBOANGA CITY -- The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) said the five-day Zamboanga Peninsula Exposition (ZAMPEX) in SM Megamall on August 1-5 has earned PHP86.13 million.

Dubbed as “ZAMPEX sa Megamall”, the activity was participated in by 110 exhibitors and 20 travel and tour agencies.

Sitti Amina Jain, DTI-9 director, said Friday the exhibitors showcased the products of Region 9 such as fruits, food items, hand-woven products, and rubber.

“We brought to Manila the entire Zamboanga Peninsula not only the products. We brought the industry, culture, the people, and the entire resources of Zamboanga Peninsula,” Jain said.

She said they brought ZAMPEX to Manila to conquer a bigger market following last year’s success hitting over PHP25 million in sales, the biggest in five years since its inception in 2014.

She said this year’s ZAMPEX was unique in that DTI partnered with other national line agencies and the different local government units (LGUs) of Zamboanga Peninsula that brought the innovative products, investment, and tourism potentials of the region to Manila.

This year’s activity is anchored on the theme “Innovate, Invest, Indulge”, indeed a fitting storyline for ZAMPEX sa Megamall. (PNA)
