ZAMBOANGA CITY -- The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) is set to put up six more Negosyo Centers to expand its services to businessmen and aspiring entrepreneurs in Region 9 (Zamboanga Peninsula).

Sitti Amina Jain, DTI regional director, told the Philippine News Agency Friday that three of the six Negosyo Centers will be established in Zamboanga del Norte, two in Zamboanga del Sur, and one in Zamboanga Sibugay.

“Our objective is by 2020, all local government units (LGUs) in Region 9 should have a Negosyo Center. This will facilitate easier access to small entrepreneurs when it comes to product development, marketing, financial literacy, production efficiency, and technology transfer,” Jain said.

To date, there are 54 Negosyo Centers across the region. The first ones were established in key cities like Zamboanga, Isabela, Dapitan, Dipolog, and Pagadian, the DTI-9 chief said.

Jain said the establishment of Negosyo Centers aims to foster entrepreneurial spirit through business seminars, counseling for entrepreneurs and would-be entrepreneurs,  as well as those interested in learning about business management.

Negosyo Centers also process business name registration and are manned by trained DTI personnel. (PNA)
