MANILA -- National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) chief, Gen. Guillermo Eleazar, on Tuesday urged his colleagues to draw inspiration from best police regional office award they received recently to further raise the bar of excellence in public service.

During the NCRPO's 118th Police Service Anniversary Celebration at Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig City on Tuesday, Eleazar said it was the first time that NCRPO received the best regional office honor.

The NCRPO bested four other regional offices -- the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) (Western Visayas), PRO-12 (Soccsksargen), PRO 4-A (Calabarzon), and PRO-8 (Eastern Visayas).

"For the first time in decades, the NCRPO's time to shine has finally arrived. I commend all the officers, men and women of our different districts for a job well done. You do us proud and you inspire everyone to continue to raise the bar of excellence in the performance of your tasks, our tasks. I congratulate you all,” Eleazar said.

Eleazar accepted the award in ceremonies held last August 9 as part of the 118th Police Service Anniversary program in Camp Crame.

Eleazar took the opportunity to thank Philippine National Police (PNP) chief, Gen. Oscar Albayalde, who initiated reforms when he was still head of NCRPO.

“Aside from pursuing without pause, the campaign against illegal drugs and crimes, former Metro Manila top cop and now (the) country’s top (cop), Gen. Albayalde, introduced his internal cleansing programs with the purpose of eradicating marginal drug transactions and recycling of drugs, as well as common crimes committed by our own companions in the PNP,” he said.

Eleazar assured that the NCRPO will remain committed to fulfill its mission to relentlessly neutralize those who seek to undermine the peace and order and the future of the next generation.

He also vowed to safeguard the gains of the internal cleansing program in the NCRPO.

For his part, Albayalde commended the NCRPO for scaling new heights in public service.

“Nakita ng taumbayan kung gaano kasipag ang NCRPO, sa pagbaba ng krimen at sa pag linis ng hanay ng kapulisan (The people have seen how the NCRPO work hard, the lower crime rate and police internal-cleansing),” Albayalde said.

“Congratulations to the National Capital Region Police Office under Police Major General Guillermo Eleazar for the adding another feather on its cap as Police Regional Office of the Year,” he added.

During the Tuesday’s celebration, Eleazar assisted Albayalde in giving awards to the best performing police units and personnel in the field of administration and operations in Metro Manila.

“I hope that the recognition of your remarkable service will further inspire you to achieve more for the PNP and, most especially for the community that you serve,” Albayalde told the awardees. (PNA)
