MANILA -- The Hong Kong Airport Authority on Wednesday informed all airlines to cease ticket sales at the airport, a local carrier spokesperson said.

Philippine Airlines (PAL) spokesperson Cielo Villaluna said this was due to the tightened security measures and access control being implemented in the passenger terminal building.

Currently, all airport access points are manned by the Hong Kong Aviation Security, police, and airline staff.

Ground handling agents are assisting the screening process, Villaluna said.

Villaluna said those who would like to book flights out of Hong Kong may visit the carrier's website, call reservations hotline (+632 855-8888), or visit the PAL ticketing office in Hong Kong.

The ongoing protests inside the airport premises prompted authorities to stop operations at the gateway on Monday and Tuesday.

Airlines have been cancelling or rescheduling their services going to and out of Hong Kong since last week due to slowdown in airport operations and the flight reduction scheme implemented by authorities. (PNA)
