GENERAL SANTOS CITY -- The Police Regional Office (PRO) 12 (Soccsksargen) has hired some 350 police personnel to augment the operational requirements of police units in the area.
Brig. Gen. Eliseo Tam Rasco, PRO-12 director, said Monday the new police personnel comprise the region’s quota under the first cycle of the Philippine National Police’s (PNP) regular recruitment program.
Rasco said the newly hired personnel are composed of 280 male and 70 female applicants from parts of Soccsksargen who passed the PNP’s stringent selection process.
The new police personnel formally took their oath with the rank of patrolman during the reception ceremony held at PRO-12 headquarters in Barangay Tambler here last Friday.
They were assigned on the same day at the Regional Training School-12 to start their six-month Public Safety Basic Recruit Course.
After the basic course, the trainees will embark on a 45-day Basic Internal Security Operation Course before they are given their official assignments.
“They will undergo rigorous training to become full-fledged members of the PNP,” Rasco told reporters.
He assured that the new police personnel had undergone vetting in sequential stages as part of their “transparent and fair selection process.”
A PRO-12 briefer said the selection process started with the filing of application through the PNP's online recruitment application system and was followed by various screening stages, such as face-to-face interview, physical agility test, psychiatric/psychological examination, physical medical and dental examinations, unannounced drug test and complete background investigation.
The latest batch of police trainees were mostly graduates of criminology, information technology and education courses.
Rasco said they will receive basic salaries of PHP29,688 a month while undergoing training. (PNA)
